Minichord Lab

The Practice Room

Games for getting to know the minichord, hands and ears as much as head: reading chords and finding them on the buttons, notes on the harp, voice leading, the alternate layout by ear, and a few mysteries. The more you play, the faster you find any chord, any note, and the smoothest way from one chord to the next. Answers are timed, so you can watch yourself get quicker. No minichord? The pickers take answers, and the mysteries play on the piano.

Connect the minichord, or play with the pickers.

Settings

Chord sets follow what the buttons play: standard is major, minor, 7, maj7, m7, diminished (major and minor together) and augmented (all three); Barry Harris mode turns major, minor and diminished into 6, m6 and diminished 7. The alternate layout is left out, since everyone sets up their own. The buttons play their letters with the key signature's sharps or flats, and the game sets the modifier to sharp or flat for each question, and Barry Harris mode on or off for the chord it asks for.
